Commentary: You can teach your children to love transgender people while rejecting transgenderism

Amid society’s sea of hyper demands for acceptance, sanitization, and political correctness, there is a solution on how to speak to your children about the topic of transgenderism and how it applies to their daily lives.

As of 2014, 58 gender “options” were available for Facebook users to choose from — as if we were talking about customized vanity plates for a car, and not what God designated us to be from conception.

Use scientific facts to talk with your kids

There are two genders. Two. Only two. The same science that supports the theory of climate change has proven the notion that there are simply two genders — no grey area — and they are male and female.

There are also two sexes. They also happen to be male and female.

While the terms “gender” and “sex” have historically been used interchangeably, modern society — as they do in many other instances — has distinctly begun to create amorphous labels in order to further divide for allowance of “self-expression.”

There is one singular way to determine the gender and sex group in which you fall: your physiological disposition.

Use biblical facts to teach your children

Romans 14:1-4 advises against fighting over opinions. A man who calls himself a woman is not stating a fact — he’s stating his own opinion of himself.

Out of respect and love for your fellow human, you can opt to call a transgender person by their preferred pronoun — he, she; whatever it may be.

Transgender people deserve love, respect, and understanding even if we don’t necessarily support or understand the path on which they walk daily.

Romans 14:1-4 says:

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

According to Matthew 22:37-39, the greatest commandment decrees that you should love God more than anything. A close second is to love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Matthew 22: 37-39 says:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Provide perspective

Nobody is saying to teach your children to discriminate against transgender people, just as no one is trying to make a case that transgender people are somehow less than anyone else.

We are all created equal in the Lord’s eyes, and we are called to love without reservation.

Teaching children that a man is a man and a woman is a woman merely clarifies the cloud of confusion set forth by a hyper-progressive society that, day after day, seems to continue reinforcing the notion children to question themselves and their identities.

If children — and adults — truly seek to find their true identity, they need look no further than to God.

Be radical in your beliefs and be radical in your love. The two are not the mutually exclusive concepts that some might assume.
