Barack Obama just told the DNC crowd not to boo Donald Trump

“Don’t boo, vote.”

After taking the stage Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, this was President Barack Obama’s advice to a crowd who loudly booed at the mention of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Throughout his speech, Obama highlighted Trump’s campaign of divisiveness and fear tactics while elevating Hillary Clinton’s platform of unity and contrasting both candidates stances on issues such as the economy and foreign affairs.

“America is already great. America is already strong. And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump,” Obama said, before adding, “Ronald Reagan called America ‘a shining city on a hill.’ Donald Trump calls it ‘a divided crime scene’ that only he can fix.”

Obama, who built himself up as the hope and change candidate eight years ago, spent the majority of his speech preaching a renewed hope while emphasizing Hillary’s ability to carry out that vision of hope as the next president.

“America, you have vindicated that hope these past eight years,” Obama said.  “And now I’m ready to pass the baton and do my part as a private citizen. This year, in this election, I’m asking you to join me — to reject cynicism, reject fear, to summon what’s best in us; to elect Hillary Clinton as the next President of the United States and show the world we still believe in the promise of this great nation.”
