This Sanders supporter is speaking up after she was booted from her slot as a nominator at the DNC

Former Ohio State Senator Nina Turner is a well-known supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. Despite Sanders’ dropping out and endorsing Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Turner’s support did not waver.

During the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Philadelphia, Turner had every intention of giving a speech with a message of support for her preferred candidate — similar to supporter Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), who previously stepped down as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee to support Sanders.

Instead, the former state senator found herself booted from the program.

Turner spoke about her mistreatment Wednesday while on an MSNBC panel.

According to Turner, she was supposed to be a nominator with Gabbard for Sanders. For reasons she did not disclose, she said that Sanders informed her that she would not be on stage. Until Sanders broke the news, Turner was not told why her speech was cut.

“It was unfortunate,” she reflected. “Especially on a night where African American women were all on that stage and were talking about giving voice to women.”

Turner received support at the convention from fellow Sanders fans, including actress Susan Sarandon. Some created the hashtag #ImWithNina:
