When Donald Trump told a reporter to “be quiet,” Twitter erupted with a new hashtag

Donald Trump’s press conference from his Doral golf resort, Wednesday, made headlines for his welcoming Russia to produce the thousands of reportedly missing or deleted emails from Hillary Clinton’s time as Secretary of State.

The event also put a spotlight on Trump’s relationship with the press. NBC’s Katy Tur attempted to press Trump for more answers about his suggestion about Russia. She asked him if it “gave him pause” that a foreign nation would be “welcomed” to hack into email. Tur peppered him with questions, to which Trump told her to “be quiet” before continuing with his comments which included the suggestion that Tur wants to “save” Clinton.

Twitter unleased on Trump for silencing a journalist, with some using the hashtag #BeQuiet.

This isn’t the first run-in the Republican nominee has had with a female journalist. His spat with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly began when she asked him questions he did not like during a debate. The one-sided feud lasted for months until the two appeared to bury the hatchet during a primetime interview.
